What is a Project Synopsis?

IGNOU MAPC project synopsis is a short proposal that explains what your final MAPC project will be about. It gives a basic overview of your research topic, objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes. IGNOU uses this document to evaluate whether your project idea is suitable and meets academic standards.

Where to Submit Your IGNOI MAPC project Synopsis?

You need to submit your synopsis to your Regional Centre (RC). After submission, your Regional Centre forwards the synopsis to subject experts, who then evaluate it. These experts are officially approved by the Discipline of Psychology, School of Social Sciences (SOSS), IGNOU, New Delhi.

If your synopsis is approved, you can start working on your project. If not, don’t worry—you will receive feedback and suggestions for improvement. Once you make the necessary changes, you can resubmit the revised synopsis for approval.

Important Documents to Include in Your IGNOU MAPC Synopsis Submission

Make sure your synopsis includes the following documents in this exact order. Check these Appendix mentioned below in the project handbook

  1. Proforma for Approval of Project Synopsis (Appendix-I)
  2. Format for Synopsis Evaluation (Appendix-II)
  3. Guidelines for Synopsis Evaluation (Appendix-III)
  4. Consent Letter from the Guide (Appendix-IV)
  5. Biodata of the Guide (if required) (Appendix-V)
  6. Copy of Grade Card showing successful completion of MPC-005 and MIPC-006
  7. Your actual Synopsis

Note: If any of these components are missing, your synopsis will not be evaluated. So double-check everything before submission.

IGNOU allows students to submit their synopsis only during specific months, depending on which batch you belong to:

  • July Batch: Submit between 1st – 31st October
  • January Batch: Submit between 1st – 30th April

If you miss the deadline, you’ll have to wait for the next submission window.

📧 Where to Send the Synopsis?

After your synopsis has been evaluated and approved, you must send the soft copy of the synopsis, along with:

  • The scanned synopsis approval proforma, and
  • The evaluator’s suggestions (Appendix-II)

Send these documents to the official IGNOU email:

💡 Tips to Get Your Synopsis Approved on the First Try

  1. Choose a relevant and practical topic that aligns with your area of interest.
  2. Follow the IGNOU MAPC project synopsis format strictly—don’t skip any appendix or required section.
  3. Get help from a qualified guide who can mentor you through the process.
  4. Write in clear, academic language—avoid fluff and stick to the point.
  5. Proofread your synopsis thoroughly to avoid grammatical or formatting errors.

🗂 Always Keep a Copy

Don’t forget to keep a personal copy of your submitted synopsis and all related documents. It’s important in case there’s any confusion or delay from IGNOU’s side.

✅ Final Note

You can start your project only after receiving official approval of your synopsis. So, make sure you plan everything in advance, including collecting documents, getting your guide’s consent, and writing a well-structured synopsis.

Completing the project on time is only possible when the approval process is smooth. So take this step seriously and invest enough time in preparing a good-quality synopsis.
