The Indira Gandhi National Open University has introduced the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Library and Information Science (BLIS) under the School of Social Sciences in the year 1989.
The need has been felt to introduce Library Science course in IGNOU to meet the huge demand for trained professionals in the field of library and information activities.

IGNOU BLIS Admission 2019
Ignou BLIS Admission – The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission to its Bachelor Degree in Library and Information Science programme in both January and July academic cycle.
This programme is offered by School of Social Sciences (SOSS), Ignou.
The medium of Instruction for this programme is English only. The programme is offered in English medium at present but the university has given relaxation to the students to write their assignments and term-end examination in Hindi medium also if they want.
The university offers admission to degree course of Ignou Library Science in distance education mode only. The students can check the last date of Ignou BLIS admission in the latest notification published on the university official website at www.ignou.ac.in.

They have to fill up complete academic details and also the supporting documents need to be uploaded.
After completing the registration process, the learners have to logged in with their correct login credentials to fill up the online admission form for Bachelor Degree in Library and Information Science.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Ignou BLIS admission, the applicants must be having 50% marks in Graduation for General Category students and 45% marks for SC/ST/OBC/PH category respectively OR
The learner must be having Bachelor’s Degree with Diploma (one year) in Library Science. OR
Bachelor’s Degree with at least 2 years of working experience in Library and Information Centre.
