The Indira Gandhi National Open University has an objective behind including IGNOU MPAP 002 project work course in this master degree programme.The focus is to make the MPA students understand the basic methodology for undertaking research in Public Administration.

How to choose topic for IGNOU MA Public Administration project report?

IGNOU MPA students have to complete the dissertation in 10,000 to 15, 000-words (excluding bibliography).They can choose topic of their choice for IGNOU MA Public Administration project within the field of this programme studied.However, the university also sends the list of MPA project topics to second year students along with their study material.Student handbook on preparation of the proposal and other aspects of the dissertation writing will be sent to each student by the university.

Note: In case, if any student does not get the handbook along with study material, he/she should visit their study centre and take the information from the counselors appointed there for help.

It is advised to the students to choose topics of their interest and it should be an independent examination of an issue. It is not mandatory to do original research completely as it may rely on secondary sources. However, student should do it independently without taking help from anyone.Students are free to use original material such as unpublished documents, newspapers, files or personal interviews, etc.

Approval of IGNOU MPAP-002 project

Students have to decide the topic and take the approval from the University’s
Faculty at their respective study centres.After IGNOU MPA re registration for second year, the students have to get the approval for the topic within three to four month’s time.
After completing IGNOU MPA project report, students should send it to university headquarters for evaluation.An evaluation committee set up by the Faculty of Public Administration will check the project report and assign marks or grades accordingly.
